Chief Operating Officer (COO)
As COO, you partner with CEO and play a critical role in shaping the operational framework of Shega. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, optimizing processes, and implementing strategies that align with our long-term objectives.
Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Shega, you will be responsible for a wide range of critical functions that drive the operational success of the organization. Your role will
encompass the following key responsibilities:
- Strategic Development: Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to define and implement strategies that align with Shega's mission of empowering innovative
decision-making across Africa. This includes identifying growth opportunities and ensuring that operational plans support the overall strategic direction of the company.
- Manage Business Operations : The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the
day-to-day operations of the company. The role entails setting key operations metrics, creating standard operational processes, overlooking operational strategies, and troubleshooting problems. Lead the optimization of business processes across all departments, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations. This involves assessing current workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing best practices to enhance productivity and service delivery.

Sales and revenue Growth : Play a critical role in the sales and revenue growth of
the company. Lead and work closely the commercial efforts to develop and implement effective sales strategies, identify new revenue streams, and optimize pricing strategies. -
Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators
(KPIs) to evaluate operational performance. Utilize data analytics to drive insights
and inform decision-making, ensuring that all teams are aligned with the company’s
objectives and performance targets.
• Establishing and maintaining partnerships and Relationships : Establish and
maintain partnerships and relationships with stakeholders, including customers,
suppliers, and other key players in the industry. In addition to identifying and
establishing partnerships, the COO must also work to maintain these relationships
over time. This involves ongoing communication and collaboration, regular
meetings, and identifying opportunities for joint initiatives and projects.
• Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of key
company Internal and client projects. Ensure that projects are completed on time,
within scope, and within budget while meeting quality standards.
• Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams across various
functions. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability, and
implement training and development programs to enhance team capabilities and
performance.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key representative of Shega, building and
maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including development organizations,
technology companies, and policymakers. Engage with partners to identify
opportunities for collaboration and ensure alignment with Shega’s strategic goals.
• Market Intelligence: Overlook and conduct market research and analysis to
identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the African economy. Leverage
insights to inform operational strategies and enhance Shega's offerings, ensuring
that the company remains at the forefront of industry developments.
• Financial Management: Actively collaborate with the finance team to develop and
manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Monitor financial performance and
ensure that operational activities are aligned with financial goals and sustainability.
• Risk Management: Identify potential operational risks and develop mitigation
strategies to minimize impact. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and
industry standards, and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets. -
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of innovation by
encouraging new ideas and approaches within the organization. Implement
continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and
effectiveness, ensuring that Shega remains competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
• Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to the CEO, Public and
Board of advisory on operational performance, project status, and strategic
initiatives. Prepare comprehensive reports that summarize key findings, insights,
and recommendations for decision-making.
