Job Summary
The Business Development Manager will have a pivotal role focused on driving the Shega's growth through strategic planning, market expansion, partnerships, and customer acquisition. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities. This role is ideal for someone who is goal driven, strategic, data-driven, and adept at building relationships with development partners, private/corporate companies, NGOs etc. This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product, Marketing, and Advisory—to identify new market opportunities, cultivate relationships with clients and partners, and craft long-term growth strategies. It offers the opportunity to greatly impact Shega’s growth and market presence.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Partnership & Client Acquisition
- Design and execute client acquisition campaigns using various channels such as digital marketing, events, and partnerships.
- Identify, prospect, cultivate, and secure new business opportunities, and manage strategic partnerships across sectors such as Corporate, NGOs, and Development Partners.
- Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders that align with Shega’s value proposition.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth, including pricing models, sales incentives, and channel partnerships.
- Identify customer needs, build relationships with potential clients, develop proposals, negotiate deals, and close opportunities.
Revenue Growth and Pipeline Management
- Develop a strong understanding of Shega’s products and services, keeping business competitive in the market.
- Manage a robust sales pipeline, setting and achieving quarterly and annual targets.
- Create a growth roadmap that outlines short-term and long-term objectives and key milestones.
- Implement customer retention programs, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Analyze data from various sources to generate actionable insights, market trends, and growth opportunities.
- Track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business development activities and report regularly on progress and challenges.
Sales Strategy and Internal Collaborations
- Work with senior leadership to define go-to-market strategies leveraging Shega’s Data & Intelligence Platform, Media Ecosystem, and services.
- Research prospective accounts in target markets, move leads through the sales cycle, and develop proposals.
- Promote Shega’s products/services, addressing clients' objectives and ensuring adherence to established rules and guidelines.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build relationships with potential clients and partners.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that Shega’s offerings align with client needs and contribute to business growth.
Client Relationship and Management
- Engage with clients regularly to understand their needs and identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Foster long-term partnerships and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Review and report on business development activities regularly, providing insights for continuous improvement.
Brand and Thought Leadership
- Represent Shega at conferences, events, and webinars, showcasing our impact and innovation.
- Contribute to thought leadership content that emphasizes Shega’s role in transforming decision-making in Africa.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor project and commercial teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Create a positive and creative environment that encourages team growth and excellence.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Marketing Management, or a related field from an accredited or recognized institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, with a proven track record in driving growth.

- Experience in developing strategic partnerships and alliances.
